The Avionics Golf League
Overview
In 2015 the AGL turned 50 years old. In those fifty years many things have changed, but one thing has not – it is a fun but serious golf league that strives to adhere to USGA rules while providing a unique competition in a combined stroke and match play format.
The AGL was first started in 1965 led by Stan Powell. The leadership was officially designated “Czar” and “Individual Czar” in 1969. The first Czar and Indy Czar positions were filled by Corky Wilson and Ed Mofford.
Currently, there are 15 teams in the AGL with each team allowed up to 6 players. Over the course of 15 weeks of 9 hole play on Tuesday afternoons and through 3 tournaments, teams and players compete for various bragging rights and prize money.
